Scarlet Nexus is finally releasing on June 25th, and players will finally get to fight back the Others with telekinetic powers and their allies in the OSF by their side. As the game is visually very similar to Code Vein, many players were expecting some kind of cooperative mode, but it seems that this is one major difference between the two games.

Does Scarlet Nexus Have Multiplayer?

To be clear, Scarlet Nexus will not have multiplayer of any kind. This means that co-op fanatics will have to play through the entire game by themselves, as it is a purely single player experience. There’s no telling whether some kind of co-op mode will be added in the distant future, but at least for now, fans should not expect to play this one with friends. While this is unfortunate, it does give Bandai Namco a chance to focus more on creating a compelling narrative and telling the story it wants to tell.

The same bad news comes to those players that enjoy competitive multiplayer and were hoping to see it implemented in Scarlet Nexus somehow. Although a mode where players can take control of the Others and fight members of the OSF might have been cool and unique, it doesn’t look like there are plans for anything like that in the near future. Instead, players will be doing PvE against the Others the entire time. This honestly makes sense given the story, though, as it wouldn’t track for members of the OSF to fight each other very often.

With any luck, the AI of the player’s companions will be serviceable, as dealing with bad AI allies is always a pain. In order to get a sense for this, players are going to have to wait until reviews for Scarlet Nexus start to flood in or they get a chance to play it for themselves.

Scarlet Nexus releases on June 25th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
