What’s Coming to the Windows 10 Touch Keyboard?
Windows Latest managed to dig deep into the Windows 10 touch keyboard and unearth some interesting tidbits of knowledge for a future patch. Microsoft is working on making the touch keyboard a lot more colorful than it is now.
If you take a peek at the current version of the touch keyboard, you find a depressingly small amount of customization. You can only choose between a light theme or a dark theme, whether you like them or not.
However, as Windows Latest discovered, Microsoft has bigger plans. The website cracked open the code behind the touch keyboard in the latest Windows 10 Preview Build and found that Microsoft has been tinkering with it under the hood.
In the new preview, the keyboard now has a folder called “touchkeyboard.” This folder has four themes, each of which has a light and dark version for eight themes total.
It also seems you’ll have full control over how your keys look, too. Microsoft is working on a color picker that will let you select the exact shade that suits your keyboard best. You’ll also have the option to change the key scale and opacity.
All of these fancy features are still in development, so there’s a good chance that Microsoft still has more up its sleeve. The Redmond computer company will likely bring these customization options into its huge Sun Valley update.
The update is already poised to be a vast visual overhaul of the entire operating system, so this new keyboard will be just one of many new tweaks that arrive on everyone’s Windows 10 machines. For instance, Sun Valley will introduce rounded windows as the new norm.
A Small Touch-Up for the Touch Keyboard
The Windows 10 touch keyboard is handy for touchscreens, if not a little visually boring. Microsoft plans to change that with some fancy themes and customization options, so be sure to check it out when Sun Valley releases.
Of course, the touch keyboard is only useful if you use a touchscreen on your Windows 10 machine. Fortunately, you can turn your touchscreen on and off in Windows 10 to better suit your needs and preferences.
